Wizkid, the renowned Afrobeats singer, has shed light on his avoidance of political discussions in Nigeria.
During a recent interview with Evening Standard UK, Wizkid stated that he rarely touches upon politics during interviews because he believes it is not relevant to the average Nigerian. According to him, people in the streets are primarily focused on meeting their basic needs, such as food, and have little interest in political matters.
“I do not like to speak about politicians in Nigeria,” he emphasized. “People in the streets care about themselves and what they are going to eat. They do not give a f*** about nothing else.”
With an extensive fanbase, numerous awards, and recognition, Wizkid has solidified his position as one of the leading figures in the African music industry. Recently, he hinted at the release of a new album, following his headlining performance at the Glastonbury Festival in the UK. In November 2022, he released his fifth album titled ‘More Love, Less Ego,’ which he described as a reflection of his life and growth. Additionally, he announced a MILLE tour to celebrate the album but had to postpone it in March due to unforeseen logistical circumstances.
