Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has relieved the leaders of 21 parastatals, agencies, and government entities within the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) of their duties.
In a statement released on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, Wike instructed the dismissed leaders to promptly transfer the responsibilities of their positions to the highest-ranking officers.
The statement, signed by Anthony Ogunleye, the Director of Press in the Office of the Minister, did not provide any reasons for the removal of these agency heads.
The affected individuals include the Group Managing Director/CEO of Abuja Investment Company Ltd, the CEO/MD of Abuja Markets Management Ltd, the MD/CEO of Abuja Urban Mass Transport Company, the CEO/MD of Abuja Property Development Company, the CEO/MD of Abuja Technology Village Free Trade Zone Company, the CEO/MD of Abuja Film Village International, and the CEO/MD of Powernoth AICL Equipment Leasing Company Ltd.
Other affected officials are the MD of Abuja Broadcasting Corporation, the MD of Abuja Enterprise Agency, the General Manager of FCT Water Board, the Director-General of FCT Emergency Management Agency, the Executive Secretary of FCT Primary Healthcare Board, the Director-General of Hospital Management Board, the Director of Abuja Environmental Protection Board, the Director of FCT Scholarship Board, and the Director of FCT Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board.
Wike’s decision to terminate the appointments of agency and parastatal heads also extends to the Director of the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, the Coordinator of the Abuja Infrastructure Investment Centre, the Director of the FCT Health Insurance Scheme, the Coordinator of the Satellite Towns Development Department, and the Coordinator of the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council.
The statement concluded by stating that “appointments to these positions will be made in the near future.”
