The Afenifere, a socio-political group representing the Yoruba people, has expressed deep concern regarding the surging insecurity within Nigeria, characterizing the nation as increasingly difficult to govern.
In a statement signed by its national leader, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, and Secretary, Chief Olusola Ebiseni, Afenifere underscored the apprehension among Nigerians regarding the alarming state of insecurity, which has made peaceful sleep a rarity. The group bemoaned the ongoing abduction of university students in Zamfara, highlighting the lingering uncertainty surrounding their fate.
Afenifere also drew attention to the audacious attack on military officers in Imo State and pointed out the prevailing hunger within the country, rendering many Nigerians unable to make ends meet.
Additionally, the group expressed support for the proposed strike by the NLC, underscoring the adverse consequences of the abrupt removal of oil subsidies and other hastily executed economic policies on the Nigerian populace.
