Uk-Based Nigerian Doctor Loses Custody Of Son After Flogging Him With Belt

According to a child rights advocate, pepstalk1, a Nigerian doctor residing in the United Kingdom has lost custody of his 16-year-old son due to an incident of corporal punishment.

The doctor had allegedly disciplined his son by flogging him with a belt after catching him and his friends watching an inappropriate video while they were supposed to be studying together. His friends reported the incident to the police, claiming that the father repeatedly said during the punishment, “Is this how you want to become a doctor?”

During the court proceedings, the 16-year-old testified that his father had a history of corporal punishment and was pressuring him to pursue a career he had no interest in.

As a result of the testimonies and evidence presented, the court made the decision to remove the boy from his father’s custody, placing him under the care of the UK government. The child rights advocate shared these details in a video posted on her Instagram page, filmed in front of the courtroom where the case was being heard.
