Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has opted to cancel the state’s Independence Day celebrations, originally scheduled for Sunday, October 1st, 2023, in commemoration of Nigeria’s 63rd year of independence. According to a statement released by his spokesman, Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke has encouraged the people of Osun to dedicate the day to prayer, reflecting on the challenging times the nation is undergoing.

He emphasized the need for divine intervention and guidance in addressing the nation’s affairs. The governor conveyed his greetings to the people of Osun and all Nigerians, expressing his intention to observe the day through meditation and prayers.
