Simisola Kosoko, the talented Nigerian singer widely known as Simi, has dismissed rumors of a romantic involvement with her colleague, Falz Folarin, also known as Falz The Bahd Guy.
Before Simi’s private wedding with fellow Nigerian singer, Adekunle Gold, on January 9, 2019, in Lagos, there were speculations that she and Falz were dating, but neither confirmed nor denied the claims.
During an interview on MTV Base Africa’s program, Official Naija Top 10, Simi clarified that she had a strong professional relationship with Falz. She attributed the dating rumors to fans who noticed their remarkable sonic chemistry and started speculating.
Simi further revealed that they decided to embrace the speculation as a strategic move to collaborate on more music together.
She said, “He [Falz] did a verse on my song, ‘JAMB Question Remix’. And I was like, ‘Ah! Me and this guy, there is a vibe there.’ So, we did ‘Soldier’, and everybody was like, the chemistry is so amazing.
“We never saw that. People bought what we were not selling. And we were like, okay, this is a strategy.
So, we did ‘Chemistry’ the album. People gave us the name and the idea. We never actually came and say, oh, we are dating”
