Joy Bishara, a former student of Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok, Borno State, was one of the 276 female students captured by Boko Haram in 2014. She has recently become engaged to her white partner in the United States.

Ms. Bishara and her cousin, Lydia Pogu, managed to escape while being transported by their abductors. Following their escape, the United States Government granted them scholarships, allowing them to pursue their education.

On April 30, 2021, they both successfully graduated from Southeastern University, with Joy Bishara obtaining a degree in social work, while Lydia Pogu earned a degree in legal studies.
