Pete Edochie, a seasoned actor, has raised concerns regarding the increasing divorce rates within the Nollywood industry.
During an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the renowned actor remarked, “In our industry today, many of our actresses who got married two to three years ago have already parted ways with their husbands. I was taken aback to learn that Chioma Chukwuka, Ireti Doyle, and even Tonto Dikeh have all gone through a divorce.”
He emphasized the significance of the marital vow, which encompasses both the better and worse aspects of a relationship. Edochie observed that the allure of a seemingly better situation elsewhere often leads people astray, a common mistake made by many.
Regarding his relationship with actress Genevieve Nnaji, Edochie expressed a deep fondness for her, viewing her as a daughter and being viewed as a father figure by her. He praised her exceptional intelligence and shared his concern for her well-being, as he had heard she was facing some challenges. Edochie mentioned that he hopes she reaches out to him when she feels ready.
Reflecting on his own life, Edochie expressed gratitude for surviving close encounters with death. He also criticized the tribalism that pervaded the recent general elections, citing an example of Femi Otedola, a prominent business tycoon, providing financial assistance to Christian Chukwu, the former Super Eagles coach, without any regard for ethnic background.
