Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, conveyed a resolute message on Monday, emphasizing President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to ensuring ministerial effectiveness. Ngelale clarified that President Tinubu stands unwaveringly against any ministerial failures and is unafraid to take decisive action, including dismissals, to uphold performance standards.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Daily Rise program, Ngelale shared insights into President Tinubu’s proactive approach since assuming office in February 2023. He noted that President Tinubu has delineated benchmarks for each sector within the country, drawing from his past leadership experiences.
Ngelale expounded, “The President has meticulously established benchmarks. The critical factor now revolves around enforcing these benchmarks. President Tinubu has displayed a track record, evident during his tenure as Governor in Lagos State, that he doesn’t shy away from making dismissals when warranted.”
He added, “President Tinubu isn’t someone who hesitates to impose swift sanctions to ensure desired outcomes. Ultimately, if this administration falters, it won’t be attributed to individual ministers; it will be President Bola Tinubu who is held accountable for any failure. He is resolute in his resolve against failure.”
During the transition period between his emergence as President-elect and his official inauguration on May 29, President Tinubu embarked on proactive measures. Ngelale revealed that a series of reform committees were instituted, spanning various sectors. The aim was to build upon the accomplishments of his predecessor, President Muhammadu Buhari.
Ngelale elucidated, “[Tinubu] meticulously assessed President Muhammadu Buhari’s achievements and formulated a cohesive plan to expand upon these triumphs.”
“In a groundbreaking stride for Nigerian governance, we are implementing a detailed plan within defined timeframes. Each incoming minister comprehends their role and responsibilities, aligned with a specified timeframe set by the President. This level of clarity and accountability is unprecedented in our nation’s governance history,” Ngelale concluded.
