Buckwyld Media Network and BHM, two prominent media and entertainment companies, have joined forces to present an enlightening exhibition spotlighting the vibrant culture of the Niger Delta to a global audience.
This captivating exhibition, themed ‘Naija to the World’, is scheduled to make its debut on September 16, 2023, at the prestigious Apollo Theatre in New York City, USA. The showcase will also extend its reach to various cities across Nigeria, including Lagos, Port Harcourt (Rivers State), Benin (Edo State), Abuja, and Jos (Plateau State).
In a communiqué shared with Saturday Beats, the organizers emphasized that the primary objective of the exhibition is to establish a platform that celebrates diverse facets of Nigerian culture. The event will center on storytelling, offering a unique blend of music and immersive experiences sourced from the Niger Delta region.
The organizers underscored that this choice was rooted in the region’s profound cultural heritage and its resilience in striving for creative and economic triumphs, despite contributing significantly to Nigeria’s GDP.
Founder of BHM, Ayeni Adekunle, expressed, “It might come as a surprise to many that a significant portion of the African pop music currently making waves globally hails from this region (Burna Boy is from Rivers State). We aspire to bring to the forefront the music, cuisine, fashion, and literature from an area that was previously mostly associated with oil and unrest.”
Efe Omorogbe, the Chief Executive Officer of Buckwyld Media Network, echoed the sentiment, stating, “The Niger Delta region has consistently served as a breeding ground for talents that have profoundly shaped the trajectory of creative endeavors in Nigeria.”
