Azeez Adeshina Fashola, the well-known Nigerian rapper identified as Naira Marley, has expressed his readiness to surrender himself for investigation regarding allegations connecting him to the death of his former signee, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, also known as Mohbad. However, Naira Marley has emphasized that his compliance is contingent on security agencies guaranteeing his safety.

There have been mounting calls for an inquiry into Naira Marley’s involvement in Mohbad’s death, with accusations suggesting that he sponsored individuals to intimidate and threaten the late singer after his controversial departure from Marlian Music in 2022.

In an interview with Reno Omokri on Wednesday night, Naira Marley disclosed that he has been residing outside of Nigeria since August 31, 2023, and was only made aware of Mohbad’s demise through social media.

He clarified that Mohbad had left Marlian Music in 2022 and had been pursuing his career independently. Naira Marley expressed his shock at the news of Mohbad’s death and his eagerness to uncover the truth surrounding the circumstances.

Naira Marley refuted any involvement in Mohbad’s death and called for an examination into the events leading up to the tragedy, emphasizing that he had no connection to it.

Furthermore, Naira Marley asserted his willingness to return to Nigeria for questioning by the police if his safety could be guaranteed. He also denied any affiliation with cults and stated that he has been actively avoiding such associations.

The police have initiated an investigation into Mohbad’s passing, with Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu inviting the Department of State Services to participate in the inquiry.
