Naira Marley Detained by Lagos Police in Connection with Mohbad’s Passing
Late on Tuesday night, the Lagos State Police Command confirmed the detention of Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, in relation to the controversial death of his former record label signee, Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely recognized as Mohbad.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, stated, “Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, has been taken into custody for interrogation and other investigation activities.”
Earlier in a tweet, Naira Marley disclosed his return to Lagos, expressing his intention to assist the authorities in the ongoing investigation. He mentioned his willingness to cooperate with the police and hoped for the truth to be revealed and justice to prevail.
MohBad passed away on September 12 at the age of 27. The police had previously invited Naira Marley and music promoter Balongun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry (currently in police custody), for questioning regarding Mohbad’s death.
The police confirmed the completion of the autopsy conducted on Mohbad and are awaiting the results. This update followed the exhumation of Mohbad’s body by a combined team of the Nigeria Police Force and health officials.
Additionally, the police apprehended the nurse who administered an injection to the deceased singer before his demise on September 12.
A coroner’s inquest into Mohbad’s death commenced at the Lagos State Magistrate’s Court in Ikorodu last Friday.
