On September 12, 2023, the public received the heartbreaking news of the passing of Nigerian Street Hop sensation, Mohbad, who left us at the young age of 27. His death has left fans and the concerned public in a state of mourning, with lingering questions surrounding the circumstances of his passing.
In the days following his demise, Mohbad’s music garnered significant attention on streaming platforms. His sophomore EP, ‘Blessed,’ climbed to the top spot on the Apple Music Nigerian Album chart.
According to the latest chart data from TurnTable Charts, Nigeria’s primary aggregate chart system, Mohbad’s ‘Blessed’ witnessed an astounding 530% surge in streaming numbers across platforms in Nigeria during the chart week from September 8th, 2023, to September 14th, 2023, reaching a new peak at NO. 4.
His debut EP, ‘Light,’ released in 2020, also made a remarkable appearance on the chart, debuting at NO. 20 after experiencing an astonishing 6,840% increase in streams across all platforms.
Additionally, several of Mohbad’s individual songs secured positions on the TurnTable Top 100 chart, following a week of robust streaming numbers. Notably, ‘Ask About Me’ secured the NO. 22 spot, ‘Peace’ at NO. 28, ‘Beast and Peace’ at NO. 32, ‘Feel Good’ at NO. 34, ‘Pariwo’ featuring Bella Smhurda at NO. 51, ‘Sabi’ at NO. 71, ‘Sorry’ at NO. 83, and ‘Account Balance’ at NO. 85.
