Mohbad: Naira Marley Vows To Clear Name, Ready To Assist Police Investigation

After the passing of Nigerian musician Mohbad, also known as Ilerioulwa Aloba, Marlian Music label owner Azeez Fashola, commonly known as Naira Marley, has pledged to vindicate himself and demonstrate his innocence in any involvement in Mohbad’s demise.

Naira Marley, in a statement posted on his Instagram account on Tuesday, expressed his willingness to cooperate with the police investigation into the death of his former signee, Mohbad.

He stated, “In light of the police invitation, I am making arrangements to return to the country to assist the investigation and give my version of the events. I am fully cooperating with the Police team and I certainly have no reason to be a fugitive when I have no hand in his death.”

Naira Marley expressed confidence that the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death would be revealed in due time and the truth would emerge. He also stressed his innocence, asserting that he has no involvement in the accusations against him.

In further clarification, Naira Marley mentioned that since Mohbad’s departure from the label in September 2022, Marlian Music had not obstructed his career or releases, and he had been with oneRPM. Legal efforts were also undertaken to address Mohbad’s concerns regarding their previous collaboration.

Mohbad passed away on September 12 at the age of 27 in Lagos State and was laid to rest on September 13. Following an investigation by the Lagos State Police Command into the circumstances of his death, an autopsy was conducted after his remains were exhumed.
