Nollywood actress and politician, Tonto Dikeh, has claimed that controversial Nigerian singer Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, has influential political figures supporting him.
Tonto Dikeh made this assertion after Naira Marley’s return to Nigeria and subsequent arrest on Tuesday night in connection with the death of his late signee, Mohbad.
Confirming the arrest, Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos Police Command, released a statement on Tuesday night. In a video circulating online, Naira Marley was seen being escorted at the airport before his departure.
In response, Tonto Dikeh expressed her opinion on Instagram, stating that in the right country, Naira Marley should be handcuffed and not tweeting about his return on his phone.
She pointed out that Naira Marley’s confidence suggests he has influential political backers. She urged these figures to let him go and ensure justice is served in Mohbad’s death.
Tonto Dikeh wrote: “Look who has returned to NIGERIA to assist the police in investigating the torture of Mohbadd by him and Sam Larry.
“I ask again, who is protecting Naira Marley? In the right country, Naira should be in handcuffs and chains; instead, he has a phone to tweet.
“Naira Marley’s confidence appears to stem from having influential political supporters by his side. Now, one of two things: either you all let him go and give him the justice he deserves, or we will start revealing your names. Right now, we don’t care about you all; we want justice for Mohbad.”
