Joseph Aloba, the father of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has revealed the story of how his son met his wife, Wunmi, at Naira Marley’s Marlian Music label.
In an interview with the PUNCH, Mr. Aloba portrayed Mohbad as a genuine and straightforward person. He explained that the connection between Mohbad and his wife, Omowunmi Aloba, began in their early days in Oke-Iletu, Ikorodu, Lagos. However, it wasn’t until they crossed paths again at a hangout organized by Naira Marley’s label that their romantic relationship blossomed.
Mr. Aloba clarified that there were no romantic ties between them before their reunion. He pointed to a lyric from Mohbad’s 2020 song “Komajensun” that hinted at their connection. The lyric, “Naira lo gbe omo fun mi, I’m not a womanizer,” indicated how Mohbad and Wunmi’s paths crossed once again when he joined Marlian Records.
According to Aloba, Mohbad met Wunmi at Marlian Music, although they had known each other from Oke-Iletu, where Wunmi was a student at the time.
Following Mohbad’s tragic passing, the Lagos State Police Command has initiated an investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding his death. Additionally, a Coroner’s inquest into Mohbad’s demise has been scheduled for October 13, 2023, during which witnesses will present their testimonies.
It’s worth noting that Funmi Falana, the mother of rapper Falz and a legal expert, represented Mohbad’s family alongside other legal professionals. They held a private session to discuss the procedures for presenting evidence in the case.
