Okeh stated that on March 9, 2023, Friday hired Bassey to repaint his Corolla car and paid him N32,000 for the job, which was expected to be completed in three days as per their agreement.

However, Bassey left with the car that same day and could not be reached despite several attempts until his subsequent arrest.

In response, Bassey pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate Nwaka granted him bail in the amount of N1 million, requiring two responsible sureties of equal sum.

The case was adjourned until July 13, 2023, for mention.
