An international organization focused on peace, Peace Ambassador Agency Worldwide, has designated several prominent figures as peace icons in Africa. This distinguished list includes former President Goodluck Jonathan, former Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, and Rwandan President Paul Kagame.
Also featured are Kenyan President William Ruto, Akinwumi Adeshina, President of the African Development Bank, Tony Elumelu, Chairman of the United Bank of Africa Group, Femi Otedola, Chairman of Geregu Power PLC, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, President of LoveWorld Incorporated, and the Sultan of Sokoto, Mohammadu Abubakar, among others.
During a press conference in Abuja, the Project Director of the group, Ambassador Kingsley Amafibe, announced the unveiling of “100 Most Notable Peace Icons In Africa.” These individuals are being recognized for their significant contributions to promoting peace and harmony across the continent.
Amafibe highlighted that the peace icons have tirelessly worked to reduce conflicts, strengthen social bonds, and establish connections among diverse communities in Africa.

He emphasized that this list comprises individuals from various domains, including economists, financial experts, sports personalities, religious leaders, industrialists, entertainment entrepreneurs, traditional rulers, activists, thinkers, and creators. Despite facing challenges, they have left indelible legacies by transcending boundaries.
Amafibe stated, “Through sharing their stories, we aim to amplify the impact of their efforts and collectively strive for a more peaceful and prosperous Africa.”
Furthermore, the organization plans to award scholarships to 20,000 underprivileged students across the continent. The success of this initiative will rely on the contributions and support of the recognized peace icons.
Amafibe underscored the significance of empowering the youth through comprehensive training and skill enrichment initiatives. The organization is dedicated to fostering innovation and constructive change by investing in the younger generation.
Additionally, the organization is launching the “CleanAqua4All” project, addressing the critical need for clean water in rural communities. This initiative aims to provide access to safe and clean drinking water, thereby improving the quality of life, health, and progress in underserved regions.
