The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has set May 30, 2023, as Biafra Heroes Day to honour the gallant men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice for the liberation of Biafra. The group called on Biafrans, friends, and lovers of Biafra freedom across the world to observe the day in remembrance of those who lost their lives during the Nigerian civil war and beyond.
IPOB spokesperson Emma Powerful urged members to celebrate the day in whichever peaceful way they choose. He added that the group’s leadership advises all to maintain peace and order during the event and observe three minutes of silence for the fallen heroes who paid the ultimate price from 1967-1970 till date.
