The mysterious death of Adeshina Olayinka, an Instagram cloth vendor, at Wetland Hotel in Ibadan, Oyo State, has taken a new turn as the prime suspect is now in police custody. The lady was reportedly found dead after checking out early on a Thursday morning.
According to PUNCH Metro, the suspect voluntarily presented himself to the police at Akobo Police Division after hearing that they needed his attention over Olayinka’s death. The suspect is currently being held at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Iyaganku, Ibadan. When a correspondent visited the hotel, the manager and supervisor were said to be unavailable.

But a staff member who did not want his name in print because he is not the hotel’s spokesman, in an interview with PUNCH Metro, said, “We wouldn’t have known until 12noon check out time if not for the power bank she borrowed from one of the receptionists. When we discovered that she was still breathing, we quickly called policemen at Akobo Police Station but unfortunately, she died before getting to the hospital. Instagram Cloth Vendor
“We called the suspect to inform him about the incident. He rushed down to the hotel to present himself to the police.
“He has been arrested and the case has been transferred to the SCID. He is one of our customers here. ”
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, simply said, “Investigation is in progress. Updates would be provided accordingly, please.”
Meanwhile, the hotel management, in a press statement, said it was cooperating with the police in the investigation.
“One of our guests passed away while staying with us. We are fully cooperating with the authorities in their investigation into this matter, and we assure you that we are doing everything we can to assist the police in their efforts to determine the cause of death,” the hotel management said.
