FGN Approves N6.28 Billion For Surface Maintenance Of Third Mainland Bridge In Lagos

The Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) has announced the approval of N6.28 billion for the surface maintenance of the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos State. The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, made this announcement during a briefing after the Federal Executive Council meeting.

The repair, which will span 24 months, covers 11 kilometers, including interchanges, ramps, and critical links on the Third Mainland Bridge. This move is in line with the country’s national maintenance policy, which was given legal backing through Executive Order 11 signed by President Muhammadu Buhari in April 2022.

The repair work is aimed at restoring the bridge’s structural integrity and aesthetics, including stolen rails and misaligned pleats on the driving surface. However, the minister assured that there will be no prolonged closure during the works.
