DSS Is Questioning Why IPOB's Lawyer Is Defending Emefiele

The Department of State Services (DSS) has accused Maxwell Okpara, one of Godwin Emefiele’s lawyers, of being a counsel for the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Emefiele, the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), had some lawyers, including Okpara, calling for action against DSS Director-General, Yusuf Bichi, regarding Emefiele’s detention.

The DSS referred to Okpara as a “Biafran Republic agitator” and questioned his role in defending Emefiele, expressing a contradiction and raising concerns about the connection between the two. The secret police emphasized the need for Okpara to be properly educated on points of law.
