Breaking News: Sam Larry Detained By Police In Connection With Mohbad's Death Investigation

In a recent development, the controversial show promoter, Samson Erinfolami Balogun Eletu, popularly known as Sam Larry, has been apprehended by the Nigerian Police for questioning in relation to the ongoing investigation into Mohbad’s death.

The confirmation came from Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Command, who issued a brief statement on his former Twitter account on Thursday, September 28, 2023.

According to Hundeyin’s statement, “Balogun Olamilekan Eletu, also known as Sam Larry, is now in our custody. He is currently assisting with the ongoing investigation.”

Sam Larry is one of the individuals suspected to be involved in the incidents that may have led to the untimely demise of the young Afrobeats musician.

The police have initiated inquiries to uncover the circumstances surrounding the 27-year-old artist’s death. An autopsy has been completed following the exhumation of his remains last Thursday.

Mohbad tragically passed away on September 12, reportedly after struggling with depression and other mental health-related issues, which speculations have linked to his tumultuous departure from his former record label, Marlian Records, owned by Naira Marley.

Sam Larry and Naira Marley are known associates. Following Mohbad’s demise, videos surfaced online depicting his harassment and mistreatment at the hands of Sam Larry, fueling suspicions of their potential involvement in his death.

Another video emerged on social media, where the deceased explicitly stated that Nigerians should hold his former boss, Naira Marley, accountable if he ever died.

These revelations have cast suspicion on both individuals, making them prime suspects in the ongoing investigations. Nigerians are fervently demanding justice for the late singer.

Despite Sam Larry’s attempts to disprove his alleged involvement in Mohbad’s death through a video statement, where he claimed the circulating videos were old and should not implicate him, the public insists he present himself to the police to clear his name.

Meanwhile, Naira Marley, who has been abroad since the incident, has denied any connection to the events leading to Mohbad’s tragic passing. He has pledged to return and cooperate with the police in their investigations, provided that his safety is ensured by the authorities.
