Tragically, Justyn Vicky, a 33-year-old bodybuilder from Bali, lost his life in a weightlifting accident.
During a workout at The Paradise Gym, Vicky attempted to squat weights exceeding 180 kilograms (nearly 400 pounds) with a spotter behind him. Unfortunately, he couldn’t complete the lift and fell forward, causing the weight bar to cascade off his shoulders and snap his neck and head forward, as reported by Bali Discovery.
The impact of the weight bar caused his neck to break, resulting in compression of the nerves to his heart and respiratory systems, leading to fatal injuries. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, but, sadly, he succumbed to his injuries.
Vicky’s friend, Kang Gede, expressed his condolences, describing Vicky as a good, polite, and sociable person who always shared his knowledge about the gym. He advised others at the gym to be cautious and not exercise beyond their capacity, emphasizing the importance of knowing one’s own abilities.
The Paradise Bali Gym paid tribute to Justyn Vicky, acknowledging him not only as a fitness expert but also as a source of inspiration, motivation, and unwavering support. His infectious energy and genuine passion for helping others transform their lives made him an integral part of their fitness journeys and gym family.
He created a nurturing environment where individuals felt safe to challenge themselves physically and mentally, and his belief in their potential pushed them beyond their limits, enabling them to discover newfound strength and resilience within themselves.
