The aspiration of every parent is to witness their children achieve success and potentially care for them in their old age. However, this ideal scenario is not the reality for Phyna’s parents.
When Phyna won the N100 million grand prize in the 2022 BBNaija ‘Level Up’ edition, her parents felt a profound sense of relief, believing that their prayers had finally been answered. They attended the BBNaija grand finale filled with joy, celebrating their daughter’s victory and looking forward to a brighter future. Little did they know that their happiness would be short-lived.
On the day Phyna was declared the winner of BBNaija season 7, it marked the last time her parents saw her. She vanished without a trace immediately after receiving the prize money, never returning home to her family. For an entire year, she remained out of touch, leaving her parents in a state of worry and confusion.
Adding to their distress, Phyna refused to answer her parents’ calls or reach out to them, even though she frequently appeared on social media flaunting her newfound wealth and luxurious lifestyle. In an interview with our reporter, Phyna’s father, Mr. Felix Otabor, revealed his disappointment. He shared that Phyna had not only abandoned her family but also asked him to quit his job as a hearse driver, falsely promising to improve their lives. Unbeknownst to him, Phyna had no intention of supporting her family and had other plans for her newfound wealth.
Mr. Otabor sold his cars, believing his daughter’s promise of a better life. However, this decision only led to his financial struggles and forced him to halt his business. Despite attempts to contact Phyna, she remained unresponsive, leaving her father feeling abandoned and desperate for help. When our reporter attempted to reach out to Phyna, she initially avoided the calls and later responded with hostility, refusing to provide any answers regarding her actions.
