Adesina Stated That Buhari Regretted Some Of The Choices Made During His Presidency

Femi Adesina, former President Muhammadu Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, revealed that Buhari had expressed regret over certain decisions made during his presidency and believed that he could have handled some matters better. Adesina made these remarks during a media dialogue event organized by the Association of Veteran Journalists in Osun State.

Adesina emphasized that it is normal for any human being to have regrets and explained that he had extensive discussions with Buhari before his departure from office, during which he asked the former president various questions.

Regarding Buhari’s controversial naira redesign policy, Adesina defended it, stating that it was implemented for the benefit of the nation. He mentioned that during that period, there was a reduction in kidnapping incidents, as criminals struggled to operate without readily available cash. Adesina also pointed out that the policy contributed to cleaner elections, citing examples of governors who contested and lost due to the lack of funds for vote-buying. While acknowledging that there were issues with the policy, Adesina argued that it had positive aspects.
